Center for Coastal Studies Offers Full Range of Summer Educational Programs
The Center for Coastal Studies (CCS) will once again offer a full range of educational programs for all ages this summer. The schedule, which runs from June 19 through the end of August, includes perennial favorites, like seal walks in Truro, along with a new program, Science in the Harbor Tours, with the Center for Coastal Studies and the Dolphin Fleet. Every Friday morning, July 11 – August 29, CCS guides aboard a Dolphin Fleet vessel take a science-based look at the story of Provincetown Harbor. For info and tickets go to Whalewatch.com.

Whale and Dolphin Conservation Service Internship Position Available
The mission of Whale & Dolphin Conservation (WDC) is to amaze people with the wonder of whales and dolphins and inspire global action to protect them. WDC will host two full-time Commonwealth Corps members who will serve as Education & Outreach Specialists to educate people of different ages, backgrounds and abilities in Massachusetts. Through their service, members will help increase conservation literacy of marine mammals by increasing our number of individual contacts, seek and build strategic relationships with schools, teachers and community partners, and develop high-quality, inquiry-based lessons and activities that will continue to be utilized for years to come. In addition, they will leverage 50 volunteers that will be engaged in education & outreach.

Healey-Driscoll Administration Launches Resources for Federal Workers Laid off by Trump and Musk
The Healey-Driscoll Administration today launched a new website — mass.gov/fedup — that provides employment and job training resources for federal workers, including individuals who have been laid off by President Donald Trump and Elon Musk. The website features job search tools for careers in state and local government, the state’s MassTalent platform to promote careers in high-growth industries, and services and job training resources available at MassHire career centers statewide.

WETfest: How Americorps is Teaching Kids About Sustainable Water Use
AmeriCorps is a US-based agency that employs more than five million Americans in volunteer work programs across the country. One of the many groups in this organization calls Cape Cod their home, doing work ranging from clearing herring runs to controlled burns of overgrown vegetation. I was fortunate enough to be able to interview Sarah Jane Stout, one of the nine AmeriCorps members here on the Cape, about AmeriCorps and the work they do.

Three high school seniors, Emma Creelman, Mayar Ibrabah and Sophia Mulak, participated in the 2023 Brilliant Blue competition, a blue economy driven challenge designed to force teams to come up with innovative and realistic designs meant to benefit marine life.
